So Brandon and I have been prepping for our year in London by watching LOTS of British Television. We have found several shows to keep up occupied for the entire summer and it has been really fun watching and learning new words, sayings and appreciating British comedy.
Here is a list of some of the British shows we have been watching:
Doctor Who (well, I've been watching that one for two years now...)
Torchwood
Sherlock
Miranda - HILARIOUS!!!
Coupling - basically the British version of "Friends"
Spy - basically the British version of "Chuck"
Being Human
Downton Abbey (Not sure if this really counts as British TV, since it's a PBS show)
Words that we have learned by watching said TV shows (and you can see that British television is a bit more raunchy...):
Telly - TV
Ta - Thanks
Pants - Underwear
Bottom - Butt
Wanker - I'll let you look that one up...
Twat - a rude name for someone you don't like
Loo - Bathroom
Mate - Friend
Quid - Slang for money, like "buck" in America
I am looking forward to learning more slang British words and hearing that lovely British accent all over when we move in September, but for now I'll just have to settle for watching shows on the telly. Do you know any other British shows we should start watching?
